About Us

Youth Safety Matters aims to be the go-to resource for professionals working to keep young people safe.

Welcome to Youth Safety Matters

Youth Safety Matters is a quarterly digital magazine launched by Knife Crime Matters, dedicated to supporting youth safety professionals throughout North West England. We empower educators, youth workers, police, healthcare staff, and local leaders with actionable insights, real-world stories, and practical tools to protect young people.

Our Mission & Vision

Mission: To unite cross-sector stakeholders by sharing evidence-based information, best practice, and preventative strategies around youth safety and knife crime.

Vision: A future where fewer lives are affected by knife-related violence, communities are stronger, and every young person feels supported and safe.

Why We Exist

Despite excellent resources from individual organisations, there was no cohesive platform bringing together insights, campaigns, and tools across sectors. Youth Safety Matters addresses this gap by:

Bridging silos in education, policing, healthcare, and youth services.

Highlighting trends and research on knife crime, gang violence, county lines, mental health, and safeguarding.

Celebrating real-world successes, showcasing interventions and community-led solutions that work.

Why Youth Safety Matters is needed?

  • Connecting different sectors that often work in isolation
  • Sharing best practices across organisations and regions
  • Providing evidence-based insights to inform policy and practice
  • Celebrating success stories to inspire and motivate
  • Offering practical resources that can be implemented immediately
